Transmission of measured values from the IQ Sensor Net to the PLC
To transmit measured values from the IQ Sensor Net to the PLC, WTW offers the traditional possibilities like current outputs, Relays, Profibus DP or Modbus TCP. Additionally, also up-to-date Ethernet fieldbuses are provided. These are Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP and the future proven Profinet. By the integration of Profinet into the IQ Sensor Net 3 years ago, WTW was and is able to address the increasing demand for this protocol and therefore strengthen the its own position in the market space.
Advantages of Profinet
Profinet provides high flexibility regarding topology (point-to-point and linear topology) and transmission media (cable, light wave, radio). Further advantages of the Profinet support directly via the IQ Sensor Net are the robust and fast data transmission (100Mbit/s) and the direct connectivity to Profinet capable control systems without additional gateways or modules. To implement the IQ Sensor Net on the PLC, WTW provides the needed GSDML file free-of-charge on its website.
WTW measuring technique with Profinet and remote access
Besides Profinet, also IQ Web Connect is of great benefit. This is an integrated webserver built in into IQ Sensor Net controllers and enables remote access. Remote access is becoming increasingly popular, due to more and more unmanned plants and a growing demand of even faster customer support. IQ Web Connect is available for the IQ Sensor Net systems 2020and 282/284.
Likewise, Profinet is available for the mentioned systems. Thus, the measured values (e.g. O2, NH4, NO3, COD, PO4, TSS) of the connected sensors can be transferred standardized to the PLC and collected for further usage.
