On this page you will find information that allows you to put together the right system for your application. In the digitalized world, the "smart" sensor plays a much more important role than the measuring instrument itself. Therefore, the IDS sensor is in the center of attention, the desktop or portable device is mainly used for calibration, display of measured values and memory management. The sensor therefore determines the parameter, which is then displayed on the multi-parameter instrument. In the latest innovation of the IDS family, the IDS Gate, the sensors are only calibrated on an IDS meter. The IDS Gate transmits the measurement data from the sensor together with the metadata directly via LAN/WLAN to LIMS or EXCEL.

IDS Sensor

Modern devices communicate with a "smart sensor" in which the analog measured values are already digitized in the sensor and are therefore already transmitted to the measuring device in a digitized form. During data transmission, the digital measuring system is far less susceptible to interference from environmental influences (e.g. electrosmog or cable length). Xylem Analytics has designed the IDS sensors in such a way that not only a signal conversion takes place in the sensor, but also calibration data, calibration protocols and serial number are stored in the sensor head for a unique identification of a sensor. A wide range of IDS sensors are available for all parameters

Since parameter-specific data are stored in the heads of the IDS sensors, there is only one multi-device, since the sensor passes on all data important for the parameter during communication with the device The measuring instrument thus becomes a multi-parameter instrument that can manage up to three sensors depending on the number of input channels. The function of the meter is limited to the calibration routines, memory management, input and measured value display of the various IDS sensors. The high-quality IDS laboratory meter with its large colour display also has measuring routines for analogue ISE (with optional adapter) compared to the robust field-suitable IP 67 IDS handheld meter. The Multi 36x0 IDS handheld meters also have the option of controlling the OxiTop®-IDS system.

In a further development step the IDS sensors are equipped with a plug-in head and attachable universal radio modules, making sensor cables unnecessary. This means that the sample no longer needs to be brought to the measuring meter, now the measurement with the sensor can be carried out on site, provided that the measuring meter is within the radio range. A clear advantage, which on one hand reduces the measuring process simplified, on the other hand through free movement allows a safe measurement without obstruction.

The IDS-Gate enables a new, future-oriented way of data acquisition using an open REST-API interface. The IDS radio sensors have a unique serial number. After a calibration, the calibration data are also available in the sensor. With the software in the IDS Gate, it is able to receive measurement data and metadata such as user name, sample number, calibration data and serial number via radio and to link these data with the measured value and temperature. The data packet is provided with a time stamp and made available to the user's LIMS. For smaller companies working without LIMS, the data can also be transferred to Excel.
