Standard-compliant determination of aerobic biodegradability according to DIN EN 29 408 / ISO 9408 / OECD 301 F
The OxiTop®-IDS A is a respirometric measurement system from WTW® that was specifically developed for determining the readily biodegradability of chemical compounds in accordance with international testing standards. It enables the performance of the manometric respiration test in accordance with OECD 301 F and DIN EN ISO 9408—methods recognized in chemical testing and regulatory approval procedures in the EU and worldwide.
The measurement principle is based on pressure measurement in a closed system: The respiratory oxygen consumption of the test microorganisms during the degradation of the test substance generates a measurable pressure drop, which is continuously recorded by the OxiTop®-IDS sensor heads. In “BOD Special” mode, in conjunction with the MultiLine® 3620 IDS or MultiLine® 3630 IDS, the measurement range extends up to 400,000 mg/L—suitable for both highly concentrated substrates and highly diluted samples alike.
The OxiTop®-IDS wireless measuring heads transmit measurement data via Bluetooth® LE to a measuring device, where the curves are graphically displayed and statistically evaluated. The measuring heads store up to 360 measurement points and can also be operated without an external measuring device for simple BOD measurements.
Note on system requirements: For the full range of functions, including PC documentation, automatic evaluation and BSB special mode, a MultiLine® 3620 IDS Set WL (Part No.: 2FD56W) or MultiLine® 3630 IDS Set WL (Part No.: 2FD57W) is required, which must be ordered separately.
Who is this system designed for? The OxiTop®-IDS A is intended for ecotoxicology laboratories, industrial and research facilities, and testing institutes that need to demonstrate the biodegradability of chemicals, industrial wastewater, or new substances in accordance with regulatory requirements or internal quality assurance procedures.
