Continuous measurement of the pH value in drinking water - using little with intelligent sensors

Low consumption with continuous measurement - the technologies from IDS and IQ Sensor Net make it possible. Combined with other parameters, you can reliably monitor your drinking water quality.

pH value - the most common parameter

pH value - the most common parameterThe pH value is the most frequently measured variable in aqueous solutions and is therefore also indispensable in drinking water monitoring. The latter has a pH value in the neutral or slightly basic range.

If the raw water pumped is outside the permitted limits, it must be treated accordingly before being released into the drinking water network. Our drinking water panel is available for monitoring at the plant outlet.

The panel combines the well-known technologies of the IDS sensors and the IQ Sensor Net and thus convinces by long proven, reliable measuring technology. This interaction also enables a very low consumption with continuous measurement.

Electrodes with fixed cable or with plug-in head

The SenTix® 945 IDS electrode is available for operation on the drinking water panel. With its gel electrolyte and 3 diaphragms, this is ideal for drinking water monitoring, even at low conductivity. It can be connected both as a fixed cable version (order number 103743) and as a plug-in head version (order number 103764). Due to the proximity to the module, we also recommend a cable length of 1.5 m for the plug-in head version. However, longer cables are also available for individual installations.

Advantage of the fixed cable version
The fixed cable version is very space-saving due to its compact design and therefore very easy to handle during calibration on the panel.

Advantage of the plug head version
When replacing the electrode, this can be done quickly and easily at the end of the cable. The cable itself can remain connected to the module and therefore does not need to be purchased.

Installation and connection of the electrode

The electrode can be installed in the D 17 flow-through vessel (order number 401990). To do this, the PG screw connection must be tightened slightly so that the seal closes far enough to allow the glass shaft to be inserted. As soon as the black shaft is in contact with the seal above the glass, the PG screw connection can be hand-tightened further.

The bayonet lock at the end of the cable can be connected to any port of the IDS module. In doing so, the flat part of the cable connector must point backwards towards the panel.

Parameterization of the electrode

The parameterization is very simple and can be done quickly by anyone. After the electrode has been automatically recognized by the system, only the measuring mode - pH or mV - must be selected in the sensor settings menu.

Calibration

There are several ways to calibrate the electrode, depending on preference or in-house specifications. For example, the SenTix® 945 can be calibrated directly on the IQ Sensor Net measuring system, but also on a handheld or laboratory instrument. In both cases, the calibration is stored in the smart electrode, so the calibration history can be retrieved on all instruments.
